Beaudry RV Resort Is Dead
In this day of 24 hour new cycles, market share ratings are more important than truth. Headlines provoke, entice, elicit, and prejudice without listing a single fact.
Dewey defeats Truman
This famous line was the front page banner headline for the Chicago Tribune on November 3, 1948, the day after incumbent President Harry S. Truman beat New Yorks Governor, Thomas E. Dewey.
I pen this article because Judy and I heard some old friends and some new friends, stopping by our booth at the FMCA Rally in Albuquerque, exclaim, Oh, you are still open? We heard reports that you were closed. We realized after the first day of having this conversation of yes, we are still open, and no, we did not go out of business that we live in a day and age where gossip or enticing rumor is more often believed, and the facts of the matter can become the focus of conspiracy theorists. We are told by some Well Wishers, standing on the sideline Oh, its only common sense that Beaudry Resort will soon be closed. Many years ago, a man much smarter than me penned the following words, Common sense is nothing more than a collection of prejudices acquired by the age of eighteen. (Albert Einstein) It is true that we went through a period of re-organizing, but we have emerged, strong and determined to survive; and the well wishers that stood on the sideline, assuming that they knew what was going to happen, theyre still on the sideline, well, still wishing.
To paraphrase Mark Twain, it's not what you don't know that can come back to bite you; it's what you know for sure that ain't true.
Those of us that have worked at Beaudry RV Resort for years, feel that the rumors of our untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated. We work every day like we will be here for the rest of our lives and look for new and innovative ways to become the resort of choice by our guests. Any of you that have stayed here before, have heard me say, People dont come here because were pretty. They come here because we take care of them, and that mantra has not changed. Next season, we hope to have our first annual Chili Cook-off, and we invite you to come and bring your best recipe. It will be a great time for fun and competitive fellowship. We will also be adding Pickle Ball courts, and plan to hold clinics in January and our first Tournament in February. We hope to have visitors from other RV parks attending and even participating in both events. If you dont come for the Pickle Ball, maybe you will attend for the hotdogs and camaraderie.
There are other great reasons to come here. We have a large dog park where our pouches can romp and play, and wear themselves out with new found friends. This quarter acre romp arena is becoming quite famous among some of our four legged guests. Also, this next season, fishing will be a part of the fun to be had by many, but this year we will allow some harvesting of the lunkers that have had to be released in the past. Whether you are here for a weekend, a week, a month, or more; whether you are here with your spouse, your dog, or your friends, come and enjoy the down home atmosphere in our neighborhoodish resort. Were going to be here and we hope you will too.
